My Rental Studio Secret

I have discovered a wonderful rental studio for my photography.
It is located in the Arts district of Little Toyko
in the downtown Los Angeles.

Rental Photography Studio

It is very well equipted for photography, already set up with
mounts for paper and cloth backdrops, has natural lighting thru
southern facing windows so the afternoon light is very good.

There are blackout panels that perfectly fit the windows to
completely control lighting when natural light is not desired.
Onsite there is ample room for the whole crew with makeup table
and mirrors, a changing room, a table for the photographers
camera equiptment and computer. There are fans and stereo onsite.
Bring your own cds or ipod please.

Rental Photography Studio

It is a privately owned and operated studio located in a loft home.
As such please respect the area. You may bring food and drinks
but please be prepared to take your trash with you as you leave.
Smoking is never allowed.

The studio has a few basic props available. It is highly recommended
that you bring whatever props your project requires.
As the studio is located on the second floor it is impossible
to bring in a car but anything smaller is possible within reason.

The rental rates for the studio are $100 for 5 hours and $150 for 8 hours.
The modeling lights are shown in the photosare available for rent onsite.
They rent for $50 for 5 hours and $75 for 8 hours.
A $150 deposit for damages is standard for renting the lighting system.

You may schedule a tour of the studio prior to booking.
Reservations are required in advance with payment to secure your reserved time slot.
Be sure to include your setup and breakdown time within your time frames
as multiple bookings are often made.

There is a huge darkroom on site. I'm sure that it can be rented as well.

The umbrella in this shot is a giant 8 foot diameter. This is not part of the rental equiptment
but it helps to give you an idea of how much room is available here.

I plan to backlight thru this glass wall for some unique shots at my next session.

Here are a few samples of my photography taken here.
All of these shots were taken with a 6.3 Canon Digital Rebel set at 100 ASA
and manual setting of f8-f11 at 100 to 125 of a second exposures.
Trial and error work best for me. I like to take a few test shots
and get the setting worked up for the mood that I'm trying to capture.
I've never used a light meter except for the one inside my head.
When I like the looks of the eyes especially then I just go for it.

The eyes are the window to the soul. Get that right and GFI!

This was taken inside the black box that we constructed with 8 foot panels shown in the photo above.
Ingrid had never held a real gun before and really powertripped on the feeling of my 45 auto.
